
Seafood Boil Sauce - Garlic and Butter Dip
A versatile and flavorful seafood boil sauce made with garlic, butter, Old Bay seasoning, and a touch of lemon. Perfect as a dipping sauce for crab legs, shrimp, and lobster, or poured over a seafood boil.

Ingredients
- 1 small onion finely diced
- 6 cloves garlic finely diced
- 250 grams Unsalted Butter cut into small cubes
- 3 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme or 1tsp dried
- 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- black pepper to taste
- salt to taste
- 1 lemon juiced
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar optional
Instructions
- Finely chop 1 small onion and 6 garlic cloves by hand or in a food processor.6 cloves garlic, 1 small onion
- Place 250 grams of unsalted butter in a medium pan over medium heat. Stir until fully melted.250 grams Unsalted Butter
- Add the finely chopped onion and garlic to the melted butter. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
- Stir in 3 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning, 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika, 2 sprigs of fresh thyme, 1/2 tablespoon of chili powder, black pepper, and salt to taste.3 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning, 2 sprigs fresh thyme, 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika, 1/2 tbsp chili powder, black pepper, salt
- Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the sauce and add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar (if using). Stir to combine.1 tbsp Brown Sugar, 1 lemon
- Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the sauce warm. It will thicken as it cools
Notes
- Serving Suggestions: This sauce is excellent as a dip for prawns, crab legs, and lobster, or poured over a seafood boil with shrimp, crab, lobster, potatoes, corn, and sausage. Mix with mayonnaise for a creamy sandwich spread or pour over freshly cooked seafood for added flavor.
- Variations: For a spicier sauce, substitute the paprika with cayenne pepper or add hot sauce. For a sweeter touch, replace brown sugar with honey or maple syrup.
